Nov 6, 2008 New York Dairy Farm Ready For Big Changes By
Tara Pfahler
Pittsford Farms Dairy, located in Pittsford, NY, was first established in 1888. Owner and operator Charles T. Corby, Jr. says it is now time for a major upgrade.
The current store also houses the processing plant. It will be completely demolished and replaced with a new 8,300 square foot building. Equipment will be purchased so the dairy can make its own ice cream, something it has never done before.
Along with ice cream, the dairy will also churn its own butter, and will add seasonal flavors of milk, yogurt, cheese and other cultured milk products. New to the dairy will also be an ice cream parlor that will also serve coffee and baked goods. The ice cream parlor will seat 40 to 50 people both inside and outside.
The Industrial Development Agency assisted the project in the form of a property tax abatement. The dairy will create seven new full-time jobs within three years.
