Restaurants in bigger cities like Chicago are making what was once an expensive gourmet treat more affordable. Off-beat and "strange" flavored dessert treats like ice cream and gelato are now available for as little as $10 in some high end restaurants.
For those who consider themselves brave enough to try, ice cream and gelato are available in flavors such as fish, roasted red pepper, and macaroni and cheese.
Chefs and bakers are continuing to experiment and come up with new flavors. They are optimistic that popularity keep increasing.
Flavors like these were thought once thought to be too weird for the general public. The increase in their popularity is because more people are willing to try something unusual, according to many experts.
