I've never heard of Handle's Ice Cream shop so I can't comment on whether it's good or not.

However, if you are looking for a cheaper way to get into the ice cream business - you might try opening an ice cream cart or ice cream kiosk in a mall first. I think those fees will be much smaller during the start up phase.

But - it is possible to recoup the money you spend on a franchise fee - you just have to be really good at what you do. A franchise can only support you so much. You must have the right market, a good business sense and a strong work ethic to make sure it's a success.
