Hi There!
I want to start a home business selling home made ice creams,
firstly what machinary would be advaisable to sustain a home
based business?
Depending on how much ice cream you are going to make - you might just buy a couple of home ice cream makers. This is a low cost way to get started as home ice cream makers are much cheaper than the commercial products.
If you are looking to do a much higher volume however, then home ice cream makers aren't going to cut it. You will need to get a commercial batch freezer. These come in varying sizes so you need to estimate how much ice cream you will need to make and how much space you have in your home. There are counter top batch freezers and those make 5QT of ice cream at a time. That will cost you around $8,000 for a new one. Or there is an even small one that makes 2QT for $3,000.
You can find more batch freezers here: http://www.thefind.com/appliances/info-batch-freezer
How much ice cream do you plan to make? Do you already have customers that want to purchase your ice cream or a wholesale deal with a local restaurant?

You might also need a good freezer to store the ice cream and chill it down so it hardens...
