I was curious of what people thought of my idea to market and sell peanut butter ice cream topping? I dont see a lot of other companies doing this except for hershey and they just started.

Also who could I talk to so I can find out what type of sanitation rules need to be followed to make this at home until I could build up a customer base.

Lastly, are there copy rights on what ingredients I could use?

Thanks!

The health regulations are controlled by your local government - so head to your city hall and ask them what permits and etc you need.

Also you could start out selling to your local ice cream shops and restaurants who sell desserts. Bring them samples of your product to get them interested.

Have you ever considered making your own?

It seems simple enough:
Friendly's Peanut Sauce

Ingredients:
2 parts sugar
1 part water
1 part peanut butter

Preparation:
In a saucepan, combine sugar and water. Bring to a boil and boil for one
minute or until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and stir in peanut
butter. Place sauce in blender and blend on high until smooth. Allow to cool. If there are leftovers, be sure to refrigerate.

Or this try one:

Ingredients:
2 parts sugar
1 part water
1 part peanut butter
Preparation:
In a saucepan, combine sugar and water. Bring to a boil and boil for one minute or until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and stir in peanut butter. Place sauce in blender and blend on high until smooth. Allow to cool. If there are leftovers, be sure to refrigerate.
12 ounces granulated sugar
1 1/3 cups light corn syrup
3/4 cup hot water
6 ounces margarine
3 ounces miniature marshmallows
12 ounces evaporated milk
8 ounces peanut butter
Combine sugar, syrup, and water. Cook to 228°F and turn off heat or remove from burner. Add margarine and marshmallows. Stir until melted. Cool. Place in mixer bowl. Add milk and peanut butter. Beat until well blended. Refrigerate.

I know reeses makes a peanut butter topping ... but I don't know if they sell it in Canada.

They might offer wholesale peanut butter topping - but I'm not sure.

Guess I'm just lazy lol.
I could just heat the peanut butter to make it pourable but I don't know if that would cause it to go bad or shorten it's shelf life.
Don't want to poison people now do we.
Someone must have a product and be able to UPS it.

Yeah sometimes it's best just to buy the smaller things to save time. Have you tried concord foods?

hi
we are new to the site but already have got some fab ideas from people ~ the peanut butter idea sounds great nut don't know how well it will do here in the UK but maybe we will give it a try as a daily special however we have to comply with the 'nut allergy' legal stuff. But thanks for the idea, sorry we couldn't be of more help to you, but thanks for the idea, cheers the 2 Welsh Ladies:)
