I have $250,000 cash and want to start a new business. I am thinking about starting a novelty ice cream truck fleet with new custom trucks.

Are most fleets run with drivers as employees? Or are most fleets run by renting the trucks to the drivers?

Are there millions to be made? Or is this a low-income business where I could only hope to scratch out a living?

Bottom line... Are there any ice cream truck millionaires?

Thanks

I don't know of any ice cream truck millionaires out there ... maybe the Mister Softee brand?

If you could get something like that going ... build up a strong brand and etc... then maybe

seems like they hire out drivers: http://www.mistersoftee.com/employment.html

Gday Ice Cream Lovers,

I have run into a couple of options in my Ice Cream travels over the last 2 months. Whitby Morrison (www.whitbymorrison.com) are based in the UK but have a guy here in the states that does great Ice Cream Trucks. have a look there. Talk or email Stuart Whitby (Hes the owner, and tell him you were talking to me)

Their rep here is based in Florida, Cummins.

Also I just met a nice guy that has put together a unique shaved Ice truck called Kona Ice. (www.kona-ice.com) Both of these trucks look great and are very impressive. Tony Lamb is the owner I spoke to 859 525 3071.

The Ice Cream business is a volume business, meaning you can do well if you get volume. We had a fire truck that we used to take to events on top of our 2 stores that we ran. We could easily sell about $1000 to $2000 a day gross at markets and big events.

You will need to build up a following though.

Feel free to email if I can help further
