Hello everyone! I'm new here and came across this forum while I research for opening my own shop.
I plan to go solo, not franchise and I'm looking into self-serve layout with soft serve machines and a topping buffet bar to minimize labor. Also maybe coffee drinks.
My question is about equipment and supplies/product.
How are the leasing agreements for machines structured? I used to be in the bakery business and many of our manufacturers gave a break on machines as long as we committed to product and supply agreement.
2nd question What should I be looking at in terms of start up costs? The space I found is 1k SQ $2500/Month including NNN and I'm thinking 2-3 softserve machines to start off. Still can't decide on yogurt/tart/custard. YoCream?
The place is next door to a hugely popular wing place that draws lots of families, summer camp, baseball teams etc. It also has a large lunch crowd. The wait here on a saturday/sunday is usually 1 hour especially during ball games...its VERY busy. They don't serve dessert or coffee. My nearest competition is a TCBY and Starbucks 15 blocks away. I am surrounded my residential and some business. The population is upper middle making 60k. Population size within 1mile 7,000 3mile is 50,000. I have 500 homes across the street.
I would appreciate ANY advice on this business.
Thanks for the help!
