Embellishing Your Soft Serve Cones

You have probably heard that old cliche …”Please, pretty please, with a cherry on top?” It comes from the old tradition of serving ice cream in a glass with a cherry on top. Even milkshakes were served with a dollop of whipped cream and a cherry on top in old ice cream parlors.

Today’s soft serve cones also come with something a little extra these days. In the photo above you see a soft serve cone that has been topped with a chunk of brownie. You can also make such things as a sour cherry, a maraschino cherry, any kind of cookie, a gummy bear or two, Pocky sticks, dried fruit, any type of fresh fruit, hard candies like peppermints, a chocolate square, a fresh sprig of mint, a piece of fudge, a wedge of peanut brittle or any other kind of fruit, herb or candy as an embellishment. If you wanted you could sprinkle edible gold glitter on the cone for an “enriching experience” or even tuck an edible flower like a pansy or a candied violet on top of the cone.

The idea is to use your imagination and give your customers the most delightful soft serve toppers that you can dream up! This type of posh and artistic treatment of a simple soft serve cone is inexpensive and also allows you to charge a bit more overall for all your products.
