How Long Can I Store Soft Serve Mix? What you Need to Know Before you Purchase

The storage life of soft serve mix depends on the type of mix you purchase.

Powdered mix has a shelf life of a year.  This is beneficial to shops that do not want to order product very often and do not want to store product in a freezer until it is ready for use.  Once powdered mix is mixed with water, the mix can be used for up to 14 days.

Liquid soft serve mix typically has a shelf life of at least five weeks.  Liquid mix needs to be stored in a freezer, as it is delivered in a frozen state.  When you are ready to use it, it must be thawed for 24-48 hours before you can put the mix in a soft serve machine.  Once the liquid mix is thawed it lasts for up to 14 days.

Here are some things to consider:

  • Do you have enough freezer space to store liquid mix?
  • How often do you want to order product?
  • Do you want a mix that is pre-mixed or a mix that you will need to add water to?

Before deciding on what type of mix you would like to use to make soft serve ice cream, consider the shelf life and storage requirements for each type.
